Finance Assistant
A full-time position of a Finance Assistant has arisen to complement our Finance Team. The position calls for a dedicated candidate who is reliable, highly self-motivated, has a positive can-do attitude and a hands-on approach to work. This is a critical role in supporting the financial operations of Caritas Malta. This position involves managing daily financial tasks, ensuring compliance with regulations, and assisting in the preparation of accurate reporting.
Role Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Assistant will be responsible to:
- perform day-to-day book-keeping tasks, including recording of invoices and payments;
- maintain and reconcile the general ledger, and preparing working documentation as necessary to support the entries;
- account for cash and bank transactions, effect transfers, make deposits, carry out bank account reconciliations, as well as monitor and reconcile petty cash on a monthly basis;
- assist with end of month routines and reporting requirements;
- prepare audit files and assist in the audit process;
- provide finance-related administrative support;
- liaise with internal and external stakeholders;
- ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures;
- carry out any other duties as may be determined from time to time by the Chief Financial Officer.
Required Criteria
Any persons interested to apply for this position must meet the following criteria:
- be in possession of a recognised qualification at MQF Level 4 or a higher level;
- have a minimum of two years working experience in a similar position;
- be pro-active, eager to learn, fast to adapt and integrate into a fast-paced environment;
- must possess good analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail;
- be highly meticulous and flexible;
- able to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment;
- respect confidentiality and integrity of financial data;
- be proficient accounting software packages and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook;
- possess excellent organisational and time management abilities;
- have strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration across teams; and
- ability to work under pressure.
